Surfside had a very successful 2008 season with their 12-1 finishing first in the SCVA, winning Regionals, and three of the five mandatory tournaments, getting a close second in the other two.  Both our 12-1 and 13-1 teams qualified to represent Southern California at the Junior Olympics in Dallas, TX.    The best teams from all over the United States and Puerto Rico were there.   Our 13-1's finished third, receiving the Bronze medal and our 12-1's finished 13th.  Congratulations to all our Surfside players who participated!!

In the Southern California region, all our teams did very well.   There were 109 teams in the 12 and under division and our teams finished  1st, 21st, and 58th.    The majority of Brooke's team (58th)was composed of 4th and 5th graders, who did amazing competing against girls several years older.

There were 72 teams in the 13's division of the SCVA with Surfside's teams coming in 7th, 19th, and 23rd.   There were 210 teams of 14 year olds with Surfside coming in 84th.

We had 11 eighth graders trying out for their prospective high school teams and ALL made their team.   6 out of 6 trying out for Mira Costa, the top team in the nation, made that team, with one going straight to JV rather than the frosh-soph!

All in all, we had a great group of girls, parents and coaches and look forward to another great season in 2009!
